Le Cannet is a major town in the Alpes-Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Located just two kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, it borders Cannes and Vallauris. Nicknamed the Madeira of France, it boasts a stunning panorama of the Lérins Islands offshore.
Inhabited since Roman times, the town of Le Cannet began to develop in the 15th century with the arrival of families from Italy at the request of the monks of Lérins. It gained its independence from Cannes and Mougins in 1774 by decree of Louis XVI, which allowed for its economic development in the following century. However, it wasn't until the beginning of the 20th century that Le Cannet acquired its current appearance.
