Renowned for its laid-back lifestyle, the city of Aix-en-Provence is also renowned for its old town and its famous Cours Mirabeau. Adorned with beautiful plane trees, the old town invites you to stroll: pleasant little squares, numerous 17th and 18th century mansions, charming fountains, pretty boutiques, lively café terraces, flower markets, but also fruit and vegetable markets evoking the colors and scents of Provence.
The old town also offers the chance to discover the Saint-Sauveur cathedral and its 12th and 13th century cloister, the town hall with its square and clock tower, the romantic Place d'Albertas, and its museums such as the Musée du Vieil Aix, the Natural History Museum and the Paul Cézanne studio.
The city, also known for its thermal baths since Roman times, offers hydrotherapy treatments. Aix-en-Provence also hosts a wide range of events such as the International Festival of Lyric Art (Baroque music and Mozart operas), the Water Festival, and Danse à Aix, a contemporary dance festival.
